VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION – Coordinator, ARTWALK Outdoor Art Market (AOAM)
- Purpose:
- Plan, direct, organize, and coordinate the ARTWALK Outdoor Art Market for the ARTWALK event at the end of September 2010.
- Reports to:
- The Board of Directors
- Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the AOAM and report to the Board members
- Work with the designer to coordinate calls, applications, acceptance packages and program information for the AOAM program
- Coordinate incoming submissions from the artists
- Draw from past participants and solicit new involvement from artists
- Review the completed application forms and submissions and evaluate/select/approve the artists
- Coordinate the received fees with the Board Treasurer
- Answer artists questions and make sure they are aware of the AOAM requirements and assist as needed
- Determine AOAM layout and notify artists of their placements within
- Contact the City to obtain street closure permits and make arrangements for permit and barriers fees to be paid
- Meet with the local Fire Chief to go over AOAM layout and determine staffing requirements. i.e. marshals
- Notify Wychwood (area) residents of street closure
- Make sure to coordinate the bagging of the meters with the City (in terms of lost revenue for them) and bag them the night before the festival
- During the day of the event greet artists in the morning for setup and ensure that they are placed in the correct spaces
- Ensure that the artist breaks down the tent for the evening
- Follow up meeting after the ARTWALK event and obtain replies to an exit questionnaire
- Work with the designer to coordinate calls, applications, acceptance packages and program information for the AOAM program
- Qualifications/Skills:
- Friendly and outgoing, excellent communicator
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to work under pressure with short notice and potentially unsupervised
- Strong organizational skills
- Time Commitments:
- 2 to 3 hours per week plus attendance at general meetings every 2 to 3 weeks, with time commitment increasing during the week of the event
