I have sung all my life, and made my living as a singer, teacher, choir director and music critic for the past 20 or so years. Old guy, with a young family (2 kids, aged 11 and 4). Retired church musician.

I was just wishing on my way down to the launch that ... the richness of a Toronto neighbourhood would be reflected in its schools curricculum and cultural activity, rather than the status quo, which is a bit one-size-fits all. My neighbourhood has rock n' rollers, and novelists, and visual artists, and mostly they can volunteer in the schools, but do not work in the schools much. (It's an economic hardship.)
