Jimmy Q. M. Sun is a 50 years old Chinese-Canadian oil paint artist. Ever since early childhood he has enjoyed drawing and painting. He received his degree in mechanical engineering in university. And he always kept the dream of becoming a professional artist. In pursuing of this goal, much of his free time was spent on reading art books, practicing drawing and painting, and attending art shows. He has never given up his goal to explore the amazing world of art.
Since moving to Canada in 2000, he has found Canada to be a paradise for art. Canadians love art very much. Excellent art literatures are abundant and there numerous galleries with great artworks on display. The beautiful Canadian landscapes are the never exhausting resource for his inspirations.
In recent years, he has been focusing on oil landscape and portrait. He adores the way of playing with light and color in Impressionism. He expresses his enjoyment of art through his own paintings with adept expression skills.
To aid his pursuit of becoming a professional visual artist, he attended ICS Canada’s Art programme from September 2008 to January 2010. Through hard work and plenty of practices in the 18 courses, he was granted the Diploma with the Highest Honours. In 2009, his painting Fishing Season, Georgetown, Ontario”, Oil 16x20, won the second place of Framing Dames Juried Art Show Award.
He hopes, through his paintings, everyone will be able to enjoy the beauty and pleasure that nature and art brings.
