Judith HART
About:
Self taught collage-assemblage artist who builds her work from found objects. My art is also a vehicle & tool to transmit a message to the various levels of society about recycling, being environmentally friendly. In the past I have held workshops for seniors, women at risk and disadvantaged individuals battling depression. By facilitating workshops to these audiences I enabled them to see and feel their own creative power. My art is not only about aesthetics, it has a social purpose to make the world a better place. (professionally I am a marketing-communication specialist currently layed off by a big corporation in Toronto, looking for a position to support myself).
Thoughts about art and community:
Being a European/Canadian who travelled around the world, I feel Toronto could liven up by allowing more and current art forms to dot our city the way other cities i.e. NYC, Barcelona, Munich etc. does. There is a disconnect (in my opinion) btwn. local, very talented artists AND city officials and/or heads of organizations that distribute city funds and/or organize forums where these artists could be heard and employed to turn our city a vibrant, hopeful, colourful and inspiring common space to live in. This city needs a new strategy to provide its inhabitants not only living quarters, but also lively, COLORFUL, ENERGIZING, positive, inspirational, PUBLIC ART, that wams the hearts & minds. I wish I could be an agent for change and projects would be approved in the year 2011 TO REVAMP THE CITY WITH VIBRANT, colorful, energizing modern, post modern, minimalist or otherwise great public art!
