About:

With a background both in traditional Tibetan Arts and contemporary art, I have worked in hand built ceramic, oil and water-colour. My passion lies in the arts, language, culture and community development. I am currently based in Toronto, Canada. My work is inspired by the rugged and wondrous Tibetan landscape, it's ancient arts and its dynamic arts and culture movement. My work in the ceramic medium featured on my website was from 2008 to 2009 which was inspired by primordial Tibetan motifs and also my search for that perfection within the imperfect, the odd versus the even, and so on. You will see some ruggedness in my work, which is neither deliberate nor contrived but a natural outcome of my perspective. Acknowledging and being aware of the path rather than just the goal is very important to me. As we all experience at some points in our lives' various journeys, the experience of traveling is sometimes more valuable than the destination. Life is the journey we live between our birth and death.
This year, 2010 I have been working in water color and the collection will be up on my web by the year end.

Thoughts about art and community:

Even though Toronto has a diverse population as per stats and reality as we see it which has grown due to immigration from many countries over the last 25 or more years which contributes to the diverse group of people of diverse traditions and backgrounds. In terms of art movement there is lack of that reflection as has happened in food. There needs to be a concerted effort at all levels to bring this up/ understand this and work towards creating a more equitable opportunity for all artists of all backgrounds/traditions/cultures. After all, when we think about," what is Canadian Art"? There can't be one static answer when the reality is that it is a dynamic process and has to be. I hope to see that there are more and more artists and those who support the arts to become aware of this situation and work towards bridging all kinds of gaps in existence! Each individual artist, or art organizations can also knock doors of opportunity through mutual sharing, education and openness
