About:
I am a community arts consultant specializing in workshop facilitation, project development and management, training and evaluation. I have been doing this work for the past decade. I recently moved to Toronto after living in the UK for four years. I'm looking forward to making connections in the local community arts sector, and to making Toronto home.
Over the past decade, I have been running creative workshops and projects with diverse communities in different parts of the world - Canada, the US, the UK and South Africa. My background is in radio and audio production, so many of my projects have this medium at its core. But I draw on a wide range of interests and skills to inspire groups I'm working with - poetry and creative writing; theatre and movement; photography; painting and more.
Through my projects, and workshops, I help people express something of themselves in creative ways, and bring people together through collective sharing of stories, ideas, and inspiration. This work expresses my belief in the power of the arts to transform people and communities.
My own radio work has aired on the CBC, US public radio and on community radio stations.
Thoughts about art and community:
I'm new to the city, so am just trying to figure out the lay of the land. One of the reasons I moved here was because of the city's reputation for having a strong arts and culture scene.
