Tamara’s foray into the field of Community-engaged arts began when she stumbled into Art Starts in 1996. There was no turning back. Since that time, Tamara has connected with people and communities from all over the GTA, working as an artist, project coordinator, General Manager, Community Managing Director and, most recently, Director of Development and Administration. In addition, Tamara’s administrative skills were well utilized at the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council where she served as the Arts Education and Community Arts Grants Officer respectively.

In her personal practice, Tamara does textile-based work, creating sculptural basketry, wands (yes, of course they are magic!), weavings, and wall pieces using sticks wrapped in fibres.

Years of experience as an artist and arts administrator have given Tamara an extensive, in-depth knowledge of Toronto’s community arts artists, organizations and initiatives.
