Threshold Theatre

About:

Founded by Co-Artistic Directors, Suzanne Hersh and Mark Cassidy, and currently based in the St. Clair West/Oakwood Village area of Toronto, Threshold Theatre is known for its inventive adaptations, exciting site-specific works and fresh approach to scripts. Along with presenting dynamic and innovative theatre, we are dedicated to connecting with our community through workshops, classes, readings, forums, and festivals.

Thoughts about art and community:

Toronto’s best assets are its cultural and linguistic diversity and its distinct neighborhoods. These neighborhoods give us a way to belong to our city and a perspective through which to connect with others. In spite of a funding system which still primarily funds large organizations with the hope of a trickle down effect, we believe in a model of artistic growth which works from the inside out, nurturing the grass roots of a particular community in an urban setting, celebrating the universal emerging from the particular.
