Call for Applications: ACT Youth Researcher Program
The Assets Coming Together for Youth Project (ACT for Youth) is proud to announce that we are now accepting applications to our Youth Researcher Program. For more information on the project, please check out our website: www.yorku.ca/act.
The Youth Researcher Program aims to build the research capacity of youth in the Jane/Finch community so they can participate in asking and ansewing questions about issues of importance to their community. The program consists of two components. Youth can apply to one or both:
1. The Community-Based Research (CBR) Summer Institute- an 8 week training program on the theory and practice of community-based research. Youth will receive a $500 stipend and a Certificate of Participation upon completion.
2. Action Research Internship- a 6-month paid research internship. Participants will receive a $1,500 stipend and a Certificate of Participation upon completion. Participants must have completed the CBR Summer Institute (or equivalent training).
Who Should Apply?
The program is open to youth interested in learning about community-based research and developing their research skills who are:
-16 to 29 years old
-committed to attending all sessions and fulfilling other program requirements
-live in the Jane/Finch community (Applicants who reside in one of the other 12 priority neighbourhoods will be considered on a case-by-case basis)
CBR Summer Institute applications are due Friday, June 17, and Action Research Internship applications are due Monday, August 1.
