Call for Submission: Red Envelope Show
To bring good luck and ward off evil spirits, the Hang Man gallery is looking for art submissions in any fine art media as homage to the red envelope tradition during the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations. Since it will be the year of the rabbit, what inspires your rabbit-ness or “lapin” sensibilities? Be it reality or fantasy, here is an opportunity to explore and share this side of your personal id.
Submission Requirements:
Maximum 4 pieces / fine art media (no crafts) / 48” max on longest side. There will be $20 non-refundable jurying fee/piece, and 30% commission applies on all work sold.
Final pieces must be gallery-ready upon submission: 2-dimensional works with proper hanging materials (hanging wires, no clip frames); 3-dimensional works must be able to be placed on plinths or free standing on floor; multimedia works with presentation equipment supplied by artist (please call gallery first to check if your requirements can be met).
How to Submit:
Drop off your piece(s) at Hang Man Gallery , located at 756 Queen St. E. during regular gallery hours, which are 12 – 5 p.m., Tuesday – Sunday. Each piece must have a tag on the back with artist name, contact information, title, size, medium, and price. You will need to sign a registration form so that the Hangman Gallery can contact you.
Deadline for submissions is January 16, 2011 at 5 p.m. Acceptances will be notified on January 17, 2011. Exhibition dates are January 25 - February 13, 2011, and the opening reception will be held on February 3, 7-9 p.m. Opening reception will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 7-9 p.m.
