The Bridging Festival is a dynamic, two day multi-arts event taking place on Lawrence Avenue East Bridge on August 24 & 25, 2012. The Bridging Festival is a multidisciplinary arts and community festival designed to explore and celebrate the cultural diversity of Kingston-Galloway Orton Park (KGO) neighbourhood, and bring communities together in this culturally vibrant area of Scarborough.
The festival will take place above the Lawrence Avenue East Bridge in the heart of KGO. Through a multitude of free creative interactive activities, events and performances, that include music, dance, food and storytelling, local residents will celebrate their community while highlighting its complex cultural identity, ongoing social achievements and increasing resident solidarity. The Bridging Festival seeks to reflect Scarborough’s tremendous cultural diversity through performances, activities and events that promote inter-cultural dialogue, sharing and mutual respect.
*Note: Volunteer shifts will be approximately 3 hours each, but if you are able to volunteer for a full day (or both days) that would be much appreciated! Tasks vary from set-up, greeting artists and participants, painting, supervising interactive activities, giving information, etc.
