Call for Volunteers: Unity Festival Member Sub-Committee
In each role, as a marketing member, you will assist in raising awareness for the 2011 UNITY Raising Voices Festival (unitykickoff.com), its projects, events, and activities by developing and implementing effective communications strategies through web, social networking, advertising, sponsorship and PR. The UNITY Raising Voices Festival will be a multi-day festival taking place at several locations across the City of Toronto for youth and emerging artists to showcase their artistic talent.
Each member should have communications and marketing experience, excellent written communication skills, be a self-starter, work well with others and pay close attention to detail. This will be a 6-8 month fixed-term volunteer assignment. It is a developmental and learning opportunity for someone pursuing a career in events management or marketing role for a non-for profit organization.
There are 6 different positions available, which are:
1. Public Relations Coordinator
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
• Create a PR plan
• Create press kit and press release
• Create and manage campaigns for all social networks (Facebook, twitter, YouTube)
2. Promotions Coordinator
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
• Research and create a list of places to advertise (radio, online, print, etc)
• Think of new and innovative ideas to promote the festival (i.e. street performances, attending events, YouTube Contests etc)
• Research and source promotional items as giveaways for sponsors, donors, community leaders, etc.
3. Web Design & Programming Coordinator
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
• Assist with the design and writing copy the Unity Kickoff Festival Website
• Monitor results pre and post festival
• Additional Skills Required: Need to be proficient in programming and web design using Wordpress
4. Print Design Coordinator
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
• Create flyers, posters, banners on a festival and event level basis based on UNITY branding standards
• Additional Skills Required: Need to be proficient in Adobe, Illustrator and InDesign
5. Event Coordinator
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
• Assist in creating timelines, schedules for each event
• Assist in creating performance schedule for each event
• Confirm ALL OTHER logistics for each event (i.e. venue details, vendor, food & beverage, security, etc)
6. Performance and Volunteer Coordinator
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
• Assist in researching and contacting potential acts for each event
• Create performance schedule for each event
• Contact each volunteer and set volunteer training dates
• Create volunteer schedule for each event
