Drum Artz Launches Samba Programs Across City
October 3, 4 & 5th Drum Artz Launches it's fall after-school Samba programs at Jarvis Collegiate (Mondays), Davenport-Perth (Tuesdays) and Westview Secondary School (Wednesdays). Staff are hyped and ready to get the 2011-2012 programming year off to a fantastic start! They spent this week visiting both Jarvis and Westview to invite eager high-school students to join in the Samba Youth Programs.
The Davenport-Perth Samba Kidz program is set to start on Tuesday October 4th at the Drum Artz Community Centre. We're all ready to go but there are still spots remaining so if you know a potential Samba Kid, email info@drumartz.com or call the office 416-538-6342!
Resident Photographer Avital Zemer Presents Photos
Drum Artz' Resident Photographer, Avital Zemer, will be presenting some of his photos at the Oakwood Village Library. Avital took these photos while directing the Samba Kidz in photography during the Summer 2010 session. The result is a selection of soul stirring images that reflect the sense of community felt by the Samba Kidz and the beauty they discovered together in the most unlikely of urban spaces.
The public is invited to view the photos on display at the Oakwood Village Library, 341 Oakwood Ave. Photographs will be on display for the month of October!
1st Annual Volunteer Appreciation Night
We couldn't do what we do with out the help of our dedicated volunteers and earlier this week, Drum Artz hosted its 1st annual Volunteer Appreciation Night. It was an intimate event that included lovely food, video footage of the year's achievements and a sneak peak at new volunteer opportunities for 2011-2012. Thanks to everyone who attend and to the staff who put on such a great event!
