Job Description - Program Assistant (Summer Student)
Nature and Scope
Scarborough Arts is a not-for-profit community arts organization seeking a dynamic individual to take on the summer position of Program Assistant. Working with SA staff, the Program Assistant will assist with the promotion, administration and coordination of summer arts programs for youth, artists and the community. SA summer programs and events include Ego: Scarborough Arts Annual Juried Exhibition, Scarborough C.A.R.E.S. digital arts program for children and The Bridge Festival community arts event, among others.
 

Major Responsibilities
-Assist in the planning and marketing of summer programs and events
-Assist with outreach for summer programs
-Update program-related databases and documents
- Coordinate program-related mailings and distribution of promotional materials
-Assist with general administration of summer programs, including registration
- Assist with evaluation of summer programs, including surveys and questionnaires
-Assist with hanging and installation of artwork at SA gallery
- Assist with e-communications and social media platforms
-General office duties: reception, photocopying, faxing, email
-Other duties associated with programs and Scarborough Arts operations
 

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary program in arts-related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Experience with event organization and planning
- Effective time-management, multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse community groups
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Explorer)
- Experience with design and layout considered an asset
 

Salary: $10.25/hour
Hours: 35 hours a week, Monday - Friday
Contract duration: 7 weeks starting in mid July
