Festival of Ideas and Creation
There are several extraordinary opportunities available for young and emerging artists at the Festival of Ideas & Creation this year!
This year the festival is focused on Cross-Disciplinary work- which means it is a great time for artists who work in ALL forms to get involved. Whether you are a poet, a dancer, a rapper, or an actor- there is something for you at the Fest this year!
Among the listings below you will find details on a day-long workshop for artists under 21 led by International theatre artists Patrice Naiambana and Surahata Susso; A public conversation with New York's Will Power, an artist who combines playwrighting with Hip Hop; And exclusively for the ladies, a women's 'social' event- connecting emerging female artists who work in all different artistic forms.
All of these events are FREE!
There are also loads of other free events, conversations, and workshop presentations. This is a great time to develop new skills, connect with established artists, and mingle with your peers! Check out our highlighted activities below and find the full festival programming online at: www.canadianstage.com/festival

Power will share his early years as a child raised in the exciting yet dangerous waters of post-Civil Rights urban America, as well as his beginnings as an actor, his introduction to and participation in early hip hop culture, and his subsequent move and break into New York’s tough theatrical landscape. Power will also discuss his artistic collaborations with such theatre luminaries as Des McAnuff and Bill T. Jones. In conjunction with the interview, Power will present excerpts from his repertoire, including his adaptation of Aeschylus’ Seven Against Thebes re-titled The Seven, and his latest venture, Fetch Clay, Make Man.
