Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage
Your community organization may be eligible for a funding program administered by the Department of Canadian Heritage. The Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program provides support for activities that celebrate local artists and artisans and local historical heritage, and that are intended for and open to the general public.
Funding is available through three different components:
Component I: Local Festivals The Local Festivals component provides funding to local groups for recurring festivals that present the work of local artists, artisans, or historical performers.
Component II: Community Anniversaries The Community Anniversaries component provides funding to local groups for non-recurring local events and capital projects that commemorate an anniversary of 100 years or greater, in increments of 25 years. (125th, 150th, etc.).
Component III: Legacy Fund The Legacy Fund provides funding for community capital projects that commemorate a local historical anniversary of 100 years or greater, in increments of 25 years. (125th, 150th, etc.).
The next deadline for applications is September 30, 2010:
LOCAL FESTIVALS:
For events presented between April 1st, 2011 and August 31st, 2011
COMMUNITY ANNIVERSARIES:
For events presented between April 1st, 2011 and December 31st, 2011
LEGACY FUND:
Capital projects must be completed by March 31st, 2012
