NAN Summer Assistant Position

Neighbourhood Arts Network Summer Assistant
Term: July 12 to August 27 2010 (7 weeks)
Location: Toronto Arts Foundation, 141 Bathurst Street

This position is made possible through the Government of Ontario’s 2010 Summer Experience Program.
Open to applicants between 15 and 24 years of age.
This position will be required to work some evenings and weekends.

Program Background:
The Neighbourhood Arts Network, a program of the Toronto Arts Foundation, actively works to enhance quality of life through the arts at the neighbourhood level by supporting groups and individuals which provide community-engaged arts programming.  

Through the website (www.neighbourhoodartsnetwork.org) Network members are able to connect with others who share their interests, post their own profiles, access information about the field, and share information about events and other opportunities. The website gathers a wealth of information about current practices and practical tools to help strengthen the work.

In addition, the Neighbourhood Arts Network sponsors in-person training sessions, neighbourhood meet-ups and symposiums.

Job Description:
This position will focus on researching and documenting community-engaged activities across Toronto during July and August, while assisting the Network Coordinator in maintaining the website and communicating with Network members. Documentation may take the form of data collection, photography and/or videography, depending on the skill set of the individual.

Skills required:
Communication, project management and organization skills, computer skills (photo, audio and video editing, word processing, spreadsheets), ability to work independently and in a team environment.  An interest or prior experience in community-engaged art an asset.

Rate of Pay: $10.25 x 36.25 hr week
