NAN/TELUS Workshop Update
On Thursday March 25th 2010, the Neighbourhood Arts Network hosted its first workshop. A group of 20 NAN members gathered to hear Jennifer Kirner speak about funding opportunities available from the Telus Toronto Community Board and what is needed in a successful proposal.
Telus is interested to fund both small grassroots initiatives as well as larger projects. Having a youth, technology, or social innovation focus is a must, and forming collaborations with like-minded organizations can encourage a positive response from the review panel.
Kirner emphasized the importance of telling a story of the impact of the organization/project through documenting results and testimonials. With four funding deadlines a year, Telus accepts proposals on a continuous basis. Kirner encouraged organizations to take advantage of the Telus Day of Service, and benefit from the involvement and reach of the company's volunteers.
Check our resources section soon for a copy of the Telus workshop presentation that will be made available to NAN members.
