North York Community House | Fund Developer position

North York Community House (“NYCH”) has been serving the residents of southwest North York for over
20 years. They are committed to working with people by: supporting newcomers in settling and integrating
into the community; offering programs that build skills, leadership and community connections; providing
information and referral services; strengthening neighbourhoods by working with residents; and supporting
the positive development of children, youth and families.

The Fund Developer will take the lead on developing and implementing NYCH’s fundraising plan and
systems, including overseeing individual donor campaigns and database, fundraising events, and

As an ideal candidate, you:

- are a fundraising generalist with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the non-profit sector
- have worked with small to medium sized non-profits, either as the sole fund developer or as part of a
small team
- bring enthusiasm, innovation and creativity to your work, and inspire the same in others
- have a sense of humour and encouraging attitude that help you and those around you
- can handle stress and know when to ask for help
- communicate clearly and appropriately to others
- embrace change and look for the opportunities within
 
Main responsibilities:

- Assess NYCH’s current fundraising tools and practices
- Develop a 3-year plan to meet the organization’s fundraising goals
- Implement new systems and processes as required
- Monitor and evaluate fundraising campaigns and initiatives
- Work with staff and volunteers to build fund development capacity across the organization
- Research and identify viable donation sources
- Develop and write foundation and corporate grant proposals
- Plan and conduct donor and sponsor stewardship
- Develop sponsorship packages and secure corporate sponsorship for programs and events
-Maintain tracking system for timely submission of foundation and corporate proposals
- Maintain foundation and corporate files, databases and lists
-Assist in the development of promotional materials for all elements of the fundraising program
- Secure gifts in kind and maintain inventory
- Liaise with members to encourage participation in fundraising and awareness activities

Qualifications
- 3+ years in fundraising required with non-profit charitable organizations
- Post-secondary education in fundraising
- Proven experience in soliciting corporate and foundation donors with strong proposal writing skills
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Solid experience with media, including strategic use of social media tools
- Detail oriented with strong project management, analytical and organizational skills
- Strong event management and event sponsorship experience
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) and databases
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Motivated, outgoing and dedicated
- Demonstrated flexibility, able to deal with change and problem solve efffectively

This is a one-year renewable contract position with the possibility of renewal based on funding.

Other Requirements:

A successful clearance of criminal record verification will be required for this position.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience
