Organization & Program Description:
NYCH has been serving the residents of southwest North York for over 20 years. We are committed to working with people by: supporting newcomers in settling and integrating into the community; offering programs that build skills, leadership and community connections; providing information and referral services; strengthening neighbourhoods by working with residents; and supporting the positive development of children, youth and families.
The Program Director oversees all key areas of service and activities at NYCH via program managers. This position also plays a key role in strategic planning and program policy development.

Main responsibilities:
Program Planning and Evaluation
- Leads annual program planning process
- Identifies potential new program/service areas based on community input and needs
- Reviews and streamlines program processes and tools
- Ensures that high standards are met across NYCH programs and services
- Oversees and monitors development and implementation of work plans, logic models, evaluation reports and plans, etc.
Supervision
- Supervises managers and senior coordinator
- Provides one-to-one support and coaching
- Facilitates team building and development
Administration
- Monitors program budgets, and works with program managers and financial manager in annual budget planning
- Develops funding proposals
- Works with senior management team to identify potential new sources of funding and develop a forecast of grants
- Develops and implements program policies; ensures NYCH policies are understood and followed
Partnerships and Networks
- Represents NYCH on key coalitions; identifies networks and committees where NYCH should play a lead role
- Works with managers to determine best roles/representation on various internal and external committees
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with partner agencies and other key stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
Must Have:
- University degree in social sciences, business administration, management
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in non-profit program management
- Demonstrated experience in writing successful grant applications
- Excellent supervisory and team leadership skills (at mid to senior level)
- Experience in change management; adaptable and flexible
- Strong intuitive and interpersonal skills
- Superior verbal and written English communication skills
- Strategic and ‘big picture’ orientation
- Experience in developing, managing and monitoring program budgets with multiple funders
- Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple complex demands
Additional Skills:
- Understanding of anti-oppression theories and practices; ability to provide leadership in this area
- Experience with community development; able to integrate service into community development framework
- Able to encourage and nurture innovative ideas and creative ways of working
- Commitment to learning and development
- Supportive, empathetic management style, with ability to be directive as required
- Understanding of newcomer issues
Other Requirements:
A successful clearance of criminal record verification will be required for this position.
Salary Range:
$71,400 - $75,000
