Established in 2000, Red Sky is an award-winning Toronto-based company that creates, produces and tours original work for adult and family audiences on local, national and international stages. Reporting to the Managing Director of Red Sky Performance, the Production Tour Manager is responsible for the planning, management and administration of touring productions. The Production Tour Manager must be strongly committed to Red Sky’s artistic goals and company ethos, and must have as a strong sense of responsibility and an excellent work ethic.
Duties of the Production Tour Manager include:
TOUR MANAGEMENT, PLANNING AND ADMINISTRATION
• All aspects of tour coordination including budgeting, scheduling, logistics, travel arrangements and accommodation, cargo, equipment rental, rehearsal planning and booking.
• Artist liaison in consideration of Equity standards as appropriate.
• Managing relationships and point of contact to booking agents, presenters, schools, and communities with queries regarding the company, animation, activities, programming, technical requirement and implementation.
• Preparation of tour routes that are economically efficient and meet CAEA guidelines.
• Preparation of tour funding applications and final reports with assistance of the Managing Director and/or Artistic Director.
• Act as Stage Manager including the coordination of dress rehearsals, opening celebrations and closing recognitions.
• Preparation of full-tour and daily schedules, and writing occasional blogs and statistical reports when required.
• Assist with maintenance of well-planned annual cycle of market development activities such as attendance at key industry events and effective use of communications networks and media when required.
Qualities of the Production Tour Manager include:
• Self-starter and efficient management of work flow in a multi-task environment.
• Capable of supervising personnel and contractors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent ability to set priorities and to meet time deadlines.
• Flexibility to adapt according to client requirements.
• Ability to direct personnel and demonstrate leadership while on tour.
• Openness to work in a cross-cultural, multi-national and international team environment.
• Sensitivity and interest in an Indigenous worldview.
Skills required of the Production Tour Manager include:
• Fully licensed driver, class G or higher.
• Competent with computers, including spreadsheet programs and accounting processes.
• Knowledge of theatrical technical systems and procedures.
• Knowledge of generally accepted industry touring and production practices.
• Understanding of touring procedures, practices, and protocols.
• Familiarity with Arts Communities, First Nations, and International Communities is ideal.
• Project management, time management and delegation skills required.
• Highly organized, communicative, and engaged.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
