Public Art Exhibition
Arts Etobicoke invites high schools from the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board to participate in this annual exhibition. This year, over 120 Toronto high school students from approximately 20 schools are participating, submitting artwork in various media.
This free arts education station is open to the public throughout the eight-day event. It contains information and interactive exercises that encourage viewers to appreciate diverse forms of cultural expression. It offers:
a free printed guide with 'quick tips' on engaging with art
the People's Choice Awards, a fun art appreciation exercise designed to give students positive feedback about their efforts
NEW! Seniors' Sherway Gardens Spring Tune-up, a FREE creativity workshop led by professional writer and arts educator Angel Beyde, on Tues, Apr 24, 10:00-11:30am.
Arts Symposium Event – Wed, Apr 25, 6-8pm
Participating students and teachers attend a mini-conference that includes arts workshops, discussion groups, and one-on-one critiques led by professional artists. The symposium will inspire a sense of possibility about a future in the arts and will include hands-on explorations into social justice and safer schools, the creative process, and careers in the arts. To ensure that all students and their families are able to attend the symposium, we are offering free TTC tickets to participating schools.
All participating schools will receive a scholarship to be used toward enriching their arts education departments. Supported by the Kiwanis Club of Kingsway Humber.
