Spaces Available for Youth Camera Action
Youth Camera Action is a two week film production camp that creates environmentally themed films to be screened at the Planet in Focus festival in the fall! It is a great opportunity with lots of hands on and creative opportunities for youth ages 16-24.
What is it?
Now in it’s 12th year, Youth Camera Action (YCA) is a free Toronto based film-production camp for youth ages 16-24 who are passionate about the environment. The program connects industry professionals to students for a two-week intensive program that empowers students to create films that educate and inspire environmental change. Participants are taught how to plan, write, storyboard, shoot, and edit their films. Our participants are honored by having their completed films screened at the annual Planet in Focus Environmental Film Festival, the largest of its kind in North America.
When is it?
Youth Camera Action is taking place 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Friday July 16-27, 2012 at Education Through Media, 1610 Bloor Street West, Toronto.
What’s new this year?
We are partnered with another non-profit arts organization, Education Through Media allowing our participants to have access to industry standard film equipment, a photography studio and professional grade editing suites. Youth Camera Action is also partnered with the Eat My Dust Project, a film production program located in Kliptown, one of the poorest parts of Soweto, South Africa. Youth Camera Action and Eat My Dust participants will be partnered up, and communicate via Skype to share their passion for the environment and for filmmaking, a rich and invaluable experience for both programs.
