The York-Eglinton International Street Festival is becoming one of Toronto's fastest rising multi-cultural, all ages, multi-disciplinary community arts festivals in only its fifth year! Created to celebrate and showcase the rich diversity and multi-generational flavour of our local community to the world, this family-friendly event featrues the music, art, culture and food of a large variety of cultures including Caribbean, Italian, Portuguese and Latin American communities among others. Boasting over 25 000+ attendees annually, while running over a half kilometre full street closure, this genuinely multicultural event has something for everyone!
The York-Eglinton International Street Festival also helps foster up-and-coming talent in Canada's arts, music and entertainment industry, and this year is no different. Watch for emerging talents like Award-winning dnacehall-style singjah King Ujah, Trinidadian-Canadian Ragga Soca artist Logun, singer-songwriter Jahsmin Daley (one of the original 'Daley Sisters' gospel singing group), bilingual vocalist diva Dahlia, Steel(Pan) playing Empress Chantal McKnight, the dance friendly funk of the 6-piece Turbo Street Funk band, popular community gospel singer and evangelist Gerry Thompson, and the 4th R, an ensemble of young musicians from Toronto who perform a variety of genres including rock, old school R&B, and top 40 hits, among other acts!
