Dusk Dances
About:
Art Starts is proud to have formed a three year partnership with Dusk Dances to co-produce an outdoor dance festival bringing innovative contemporary and traditional dance to public parks as the sun sets. Our first collaborative Dusk Dances festival took place from July 9th-12th 2009 in Earlscourt Park, in the St. Clair and Caledonia neighbourhood.
Each evening the park resonated with the energetic sounds of the Samba Squad, and the resulting crowds were engaged by a wide variety of performances including five eclectic dance pieces that unfolded in different areas of the park, emerging hip hop crew Mixed Magik/Simply Swagg (led by Art Starts’ very own Paul Thurton), the whimsical trio Tenterhooks, local gumboot crew Black Ice, Get On Board (gotta love tap-dancing on picnic tables) and an energetic breakdancing performance by an Art Starts youth crew from Oakwood/ Vaughan led by renowned b-girl Lady Noyze.
Join us for our second Dusk Dances festival at Earlscourt Park in August 2010!
