Living Letters
About:
Using a unique paper mache technique, AFCY has developed a visual arts program that can potentially transform libraries into more lively and colourful spaces, using giant-sized alphabet letters. AFCY artists inspire children and or youth to create 3D paper mache letters that can be mounted onto the walls or as an architectural frieze in public or school libraries.
The letters are constructed and mounted so that they can be easily removed from the wall and used for interactive activities that support literacy learning. For example, librarians could use the letters to spell text or words that are found in a story, or be considered as props in drama or dance performances, or poetry readings.
