About:

NOW HEAR THIS's Students, Writers and Teachers (S.W.A.T.) Program sends authors into Toronto Catholic high schools to conduct writing workshops with students. These workshops help develop literacy skills, cultivate talent and creativity, encourage self-expression and foster analytical and critical thought.

Writers and teachers develop writing exercises together that complement course curricula and engage students in material they might otherwise find difficult and alienating.

Every year students in our S.W.A.T. program produce a rich volume of writing that is selected by our editors to be compiled into an anthology. Already we have professional published three student books: The Armadillo, The Barracuda and the Capybara.

Our S.W.A.T. writers have included the talents of Devon Code, Mariko Tamaki, Jacob Scheier, Ibi Kaslik, Desi Di Nardo and many others.
