Tc3's Summer Jazz Camp
About:
Scarborough based performing arts company, TC3, is hosting a unique summer day camp experience, full of jazz music, academic tutorials focusing on social studies and math, arts and crafts, field trips, skill building and more, beginning July 5, 2010.
New this year, along with its regular programming, TC3 Jazz Camp in partnership with Dramatic Youth Change Theatre, will offer campers a specialized triple-threat 2 week session ending in a dramatic production which will explore and articulate their important role in improving society and contributing to community.
TC3 Jazz Camp is offered through The HopeWorks Connection, a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to empowering youth through the performing arts, academics and relieving poverty. TC3 Jazz Camp is a one-of-a-kind experience musical arts experience in Toronto. Harnessing the talent and resources of the 'at-risk' urban youth in the under-serviced areas of our city, we aim to empower youth, promoting excellent standards of development in jazz band practice, jazz dance, academic readiness, personal growth and global sensitivity. Skill-building and team-building activities enable these youth to learn skills that channel their creative talents and energy into something that cultivates self-love, harmony, balance, and critical thinking. This year’s Jazz Camp will be shaped around social studies and an academic emphasis on Mathematics. Of course, all of this is wrapped up in a youth-centred, fun-filled environment!
