In the final months before 9/11, the Fischer siblings reunite for their father’s 75th birthday. As destructive secrets and long-held resentments bubble to the surface, the three negotiate—with biting humor and razor-sharp insight—how much of the past they’re willing to sacrifice for a chance at a new beginning. From the bookwriter of DEAR EVAN HANSEN, IF I FORGET tells a powerful tale of a Jewish family wrestling with questions of personal and cultural identity.

The reading of the play will be followed by a discussion with the audience.

“passionate and provoking…IF I FORGET speaks to both the head and the heart.” The New York Times
“engrossing from first minute to last…this play rings with stunning emotional truth.” The Hollywood Reporter

180 READS invites audiences into our process by attending readings of plays that we are contemplating for production. We launched this program in 2016/17 by a reading of Lucas Hnath's THE CHRISTIANS, and last fall we read THE EFFECT by Lucy Prebble.
