Mentor Feature: Aqua Nibii Waawaaskone + Veronica Johnny This July 1, we’re celebrating two Indigenous artists who are part of our community as mentors in our Mentor in Residence program, Aqua and Veronica. Enas Satir Enas Satir is a Sudanese Illustrator and Ceramic Artist who recently moved to Toronto. Her work is political and is often about Blackness, Africanism, and feminism. Most of my work is inspired by the beauty and complexity of Sudan. Ayobami Macaulay Ayobami Macaulay is a Multi-Disciplinary artist working as a Photographer, Filmmaker/Producer, and Story Writer. As a photographer, he is a seasoned events, landscape and conceptual portraits photographer. Daniel Maluka Daniel Maluka is a Toronto based artist and writer hailing from South Africa. His work takes an Afrocentric approach while incorporating surrealist elements. In using his interest in the subconscious, Daniel brings what lurks in the deep recesses of the mind into the forefront of his work. Coco Guzman Coco Guzman is a Spanish-Canadian queer artist using drawing, installation and on-site interventions to investigate stories, mostly of what is not revealed to the eye but lives within our everyday reality as embodied memories, hidden whispers or naughty traces.
